Biography
Born in Gallatin, Tennessee, Dr. Randy Ray is the last of nine children and the son of a
Baptist minister. He is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelors
degree in business administration. In 1975 he received his Master of Religious
Education degree from Temple Baptist Seminary in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In May of
1988, Pastor Ray received a Doctor of Divinity degree from Pensacola Christian College
in Pensacola, Florida. He is chairman of the board of directors for Tennessee Temple
University. In 1997 Dr. Ray receive the Roberson Faulkner Pastoral Leadership award
from Temple Baptist Seminary. In 2006 TTU recognized him with the Prestigious
Trustee Award. He is the founder of the Metro Baptist Church and School in Nashville,
Tennessee. On February 16, 1992, Dr. Ray moved to Tallahassee, Florida, to become
pastor of the Temple Baptist Church which later became North Florida Baptist Church.
Dr. Ray is the CEO of all church ministries which includes North Florida Christian
School, Haven of Rest Rescue Mission, and WTBC a Christian television station. Dr.
Ray speaks in churches, colleges, civic clubs and conferences. He is active in the
Republican party of Florida and in his community. Dr. Ray is married to his fifth grade
girlfriend. The Rays have been married for thirty-four years and have three adult sons,
one daughter-in-law and looking for grandchildren!
